DimeFAQ:Required Information for High-Definition Video Torrents

For High-Definition video, at minimum your description must specify:

  • the file format (container)
  • the video codec
  • the horizontal and vertical resolution
  • the scan (progressive or interlaced)
  • the frame rate

We very strongly recommend that you also give:

  • the video bitrate
  • the display aspect ratio
  • the audio codec and number of channels
  • the audio sampling rate and bitrate

As with other types of video, the duration and source are always appreciated.

RECOMMENDED EXAMPLE:

VIDEO CODEC: x264 2-pass
VIDEO BITRATE: 6013 kb/s
FRAMERATE: 23.976 f/s
RESOLUTION: 1280 x 720
SCAN: progressive
DISPLAY ASPECT RATIO: 1.78:1 (if applicable - full HD sometimes has a DAR flag depending on codec used)
AUDIO CODEC/CHANNELS: LPCM 2.0 Stereo (AC3 5.1, DTS 2.0, etc.)
AUDIO SAMPLE/BITRATE: 96kHz/24bit/4.6 Mbps
SOURCE: camcorder HDR-TG1 (DVB-T broadcast from MTV-HD, etc.)
SUBTITLES: English
DURATION: 1:32:27


EXAMPLE MEETING THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

MOV file, codec x264, 1080p (1920x1080) @ 60f/s
