DimeFAQ:DIME's Cautions for New Users
From DimeWiki
When you're new to DIME it takes some time to get used to how we operate. If you're also new to BitTorrent, there's even more to learn.
There are two particular events that can unexpectedly restrict or block the use of your DIME account. But both are preventable! We're highlighting them specially with these cautions for new members, so that you can keep them from happening to you.
First, keep your ratio above .25. It will start out lower at first, but get it up into safe territory before your total download reaches 5 GB. Our share ratio requirements are detailed in DIME's Frequently Asked Questions. If you already understand BitTorrent ratios, that part of the FAQ will tell you the whole story. But if you are new to BitTorrent, we recommend that you read the DIME Ratio Primer.
Second, always keep the email contact address on your DIME account current. If you change email addresses, update your DIME profile to carry the new one, and don't neglect to complete the update by clicking the confirmation link that will be emailed to the new address.
If you forget your password, a new one can be sent only to the email address on file for you. If that address is obsolete and you also forget your password, your account will become inaccessible the next time you log out or you clear your browser cookies.
Also, if we need to contact you, we will write to your email address of record. If that doesn't reach you, you may miss an important notification from us and then proceed to do something seriously wrong, or fail to do something necessary, because our email went to an address that no longer works or which you no longer check.
So make sure you always have a valid, current, frequently polled email address on your DIME account!
